A 16-floor tower turning into a vertical village for frontier-tech pioneers in San Francisco. The blueprint for an inter-city network society.
A self-governed vertical village in a 16-floor building in San Francisco, serving as a lab for frontier technologies.
Open-minded, curious people interested in frontier technologies like AI, biotech, crypto, or arts & music.
Most floors are divided by field of work. Others are common convenience spaces.

Frontier Tower is inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall.
In the 1990s, tens of thousands of people left East Berlin, leaving unoccupied buildings which came to serve as hubs for creative communities to emerge.
The team at Frontier Tower sees that, nowadays, a lot of offices are being abandoned across cities and an analogous chance is emerging. In 2013, it built a co-living house in Leipzig called Ost-Apotheke, which brought together 35 students, artists and musicians.
In 2025, Deep Ink Ventures and Berlinhouse materialized this vision and bought the 16-story building for $11 million.
Throughout the first year, the place hosted network state-related events, like the Viva Frontier Tower pop-up village, and is expected to launch a residency program soon.
Frontier Tower is located at 995 Market Street, in downtown San Francisco.
The team plans to expand to Buenos Aires, New York, Hong Kong, London, Toronto and Los Angeles in the future.
The next location for a Frontier Tower is chosen according to a competition between cities.
Frontier Tower runs permanently as a co-living and co-working place for members, though the residency program is yet to be launched.

Though Frontier’s furnishings are sparse and the occupancy rates low — there are currently 200 members, not including office renters, with room for at least several hundred more — the excitement in the tower is palpable.
Was great to visit Frontier Tower and see how lively the building is thanks to Jakob and the team. If you’re building frontier tech in SF, this is the place to be.
The tower is also half-empty, scrappy, with signs of ongoing construction. It looks like a work in progress and like it would take a serious effort to fulfill its undeniable promise.
